Let me start by introducing myself. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. It's a great place. There are plenty of variety of both lifestyle and people here. What is most notable is that Jakarta is populated in almost all parts of the city, so that it doesn't matter whether you live in the south, north or west, when you visit a nearby mall, it is relatively crowded unlike some cities I have lived in. The price of expenditure in Jakarta is also quite loose here in that there are many standard goods and more affordable goods so that anyone can afford to live here. Finding a job here is relatively easy, and most companies I have worked with usually overemploy for a specific position. However in the global crisis of 2008 that may change quickly. However if you are career minded, Jakarta may not be the ideal place for you to start a career as there are many non- standard salary level and the work style can differ greatly from companies to companies. The level of safetiness in Jakarta is quite qood and most people usually avoided the court or police and prefer private settlement as it could be more expensive conducting a legal settlement. There are plenty of smokers in Jakarta and I would say more than 50% of the people here smoke or have tried smoking before. That is not surprising when you look into forbes and discovered the richest Indonesians do cigarette business. Entertainment and relaxation center are widespread in Jakarta. You can find them almost anywhere.
